Students at Wesley College elect their own leadership each academic year. The student government represents student views to the administration, organises social, sporting and spiritual activities, and works with the departments on matters affecting student welfare.
- Representation. Carrying student views to College management and sitting on committees where students have a voice.
- Welfare. Raising matters of accommodation, catering, health and study facilities on behalf of students.
- Clubs and activities. Coordinating sports, music, outreach and departmental clubs.
- Elections. Running the annual election of student leaders under rules agreed with the College.
Office of the Dean of Students & Wesley College Students' Organization (WECOSO)
1. Governance Architecture & Organizational Framework
The Wesley College Students' Organization (WECOSO) serves as the official executive, legislative, and judicial representative body for all enrolled students. Operating under the administrative oversight of the Office of the Dean of Students, WECOSO fosters leadership, advocates for student welfare, coordinates co-curricular activities, and acts as a constructive liaison between the student body and college management.

The WECOSO Cabinet consists of elected and appointed student leaders who manage distinct functional portfolios:

Class Representative Resolution
- Student submits an academic or departmental concern to the elected Class Representative.
- Class Rep engages the respective Course Lecturer or Head of Department (HOD) informally for immediate resolution.

- Unresolved issues or cross-departmental grievances are formally lodged with the relevant WECOSO Minister (e.g., Academic Affairs or Student Welfare).
- The Minister conducts a preliminary inquiry and meets with administrative officers (e.g., Hostel Warden, Estate Officer, Librarian).

- If a matter requires policy adjustment, financial intervention, or disciplinary review, the WECOSO President submits a formal Executive Memorandum to the Dean of Students.

Electoral Code and Election Guidelines
1. Preamble & Guiding Principles
This Electoral Code establishes the legal framework for conducting free, fair, transparent, and democratic elections for the Wesley College Students' Organization (WECOSO). All elections shall be governed by the principles of integrity, equality of opportunity, non-discrimination, and strict adherence to institutional discipline.
2. The Electoral Commission (EC)
2.1 Composition & Appointment
The Electoral Commission (EC) shall be an independent body comprising five (5) student commissioners:
- Electoral Chairperson (Final-year student)
- Vice Chairperson
- Electoral Secretary
- Two (2) Electoral Commissioners
- Commissioners shall be nominated by the Student Representative Council (SRC) and approved by the Dean of Students at least thirty (30) calendar days before the end of the executive tenure.
- Members of the EC are strictly disqualified from contesting for any WECOSO position or openly campaigning for any candidate.
2.2 Powers & Duties
- Formulate electoral timetables, publish voter registers, and clear qualified candidates.
- Organize campaign debates and supervise polling procedures.
- Count votes, announce official results, and issue Certificates of Election.
- Investigate electoral malpractice and impose sanctions, including candidate disqualification.
3. Candidate Eligibility & Qualifications
To contest for any WECOSO executive position, a candidate must meet the following criteria at the time of nomination:

4. Nomination & Campaign Code of Conduct
4.1 Nomination Process
Candidates must collect and submit the official Nomination Form (Form WECOSO-EC-01) accompanied by the required student endorsement signatures:
- Presidential Candidates. 50 registered student supporters across at least two departments.
- Ministerial Candidates. 20 registered student supporters.
- A non-refundable nomination vetting fee determined by the EC (approved by the Dean of Students) must be paid to the WECOSO account.
4.2 Campaign Regulations
- Authorized Campaign Window. Official campaigning shall run for exactly five (5) working days, ending 24 hours before polling day (the "Silence Period").
- Approved Campaigning. Speeches, door-to-door canvassing in common areas, digital banners on official class groups, and participation in the Mandatory Presidential Debate.
Prohibited Conduct
- Campaigning during official lecture hours or disrupting academic activities.
- Use of tribal, religious, gender-based, or discriminatory slurs.
- Bribery, distribution of alcohol, cash gifts, or unauthorized favors.
- Destruction or defacing of opponent campaign materials.
- Campaigning inside hostels after 10:00 PM.
5. Voting Procedure, Counting & Declaration
5.1 Polling Mechanics
- Voting shall take place via Secret Ballot (physical or secure digital portal) on a designated polling day between 08:00 AM and 05:00 PM.
- Every fully registered student presenting a valid Wesley College Student ID Card is entitled to one (1) vote per contested office.
5.2 Counting & Declaration
- Ballot counting shall commence immediately after the closing of polls in the presence of candidate agents (one agent per candidate).
- The candidate receiving the highest number of valid votes cast (Simple Majority) shall be declared the winner.
- In the event of a tie for an executive post, a rerun between the top tied candidates shall be conducted within forty-eight (48) hours.
- Official results shall be posted on institutional noticeboards and signed jointly by the Electoral Chairperson and the Dean of Students.
6. Electoral Disputes & Appeals

- Any aggrieved candidate may lodge a formal written petition with the Electoral Appeals Committee (chaired by the Dean of Students, with Legal Counsel and one impartial faculty member) within twenty-four (24) hours of result declaration.
- The Appeals Committee shall investigate, hear both parties, and issue a final, unappealable ruling within forty-eight (48) hours.
- Swearing-in and hand-over ceremonies shall take place within seven (7) days following the final determination of all election appeals.
