Departmental Achievements

  • Successfully graduated multiple cohorts of skilled community development professionals who are currently employed across local government authorities, international NGOs, and civil society organizations.
  • Established strong partnerships with local communities for the annual deployment of students for mandatory Field Practical Training (FPT), resulting in the successful execution of numerous grassroots micro-projects.
  • Continuously maintained high compliance and accreditation standards set by NACTVET, ensuring all curricula remain relevant to the current national development agenda.

Training Levels and Eligibility (NACTVET Standards)

The Department operates under the guidelines of the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET), offering the following programs:

1. Basic Technician Certificate in Community Development (NTA Level 4)

  • Program Focus: Equips students with foundational knowledge in community mobilization, basic communication skills, and an introduction to development principles.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must possess a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a minimum of four (4) passes (Grade D or above) in non-religious subjects.

2. Technician Certificate in Community Development (NTA Level 5)

  • Program Focus: Prepares students to independently facilitate community initiatives, manage small-scale projects, and understand gender dynamics and rural sociology.
  • Eligibility:
    • Holders of the Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in Community Development or a related field.
    • OR Applicants with an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one (1) principal pass and one (1) subsidiary pass.

3. Ordinary Diploma in Community Development (NTA Level 6)

  • Program Focus: Develops middle-level professionals capable of designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive community development programs and policies.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Community Development or an equivalent qualification recognized by NACTVET.
