The Department of Computer Science & Information Communication Technology (ICT) at Wesley College is dedicated to producing skilled, adaptable, and practical-minded IT professionals.   • Maintained full registration and curriculum compliance under the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) guidelines.

Training Levels and Eligibility (NACTVET Standards)

The Department operates under NACTVET guidelines, offering the following accredited long-term diploma and certificate programs:

1. Basic Technician Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (NTA Level 4)

  • Program Focus: Introduces core computing fundamentals, including PC hardware assembly, basic networking, computer operating systems, office automation packages, basic web design, and IT customer support.
  • Eligibility:
    • Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least four (4) passes (Grade D or above) in non-religious subjects (passes in Basic Mathematics and English are highly advantageous).
    • OR National Vocational Award (NVA Level III / VETA) in an IT-related trade with a CSEE.

2. Technician Certificate in Information and Communication Technology (NTA Level 5)

  • Program Focus: Covers intermediate computer networking, object-oriented programming fundamentals, relational database management, graphic design, system administration, and compulsory Field Practical Training (FPT).
  • Eligibility:
    • Basic Technician Certificate (NTA Level 4) in ICT, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • OR Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one (1) Principal Pass and one (1) Subsidiary Pass in science or commercial subjects.

3. Ordinary Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (NTA Level 6)

  • Program Focus: Advanced modules in network security and administration, dynamic web application development, systems analysis and design, database architecture, mobile application development, and an ICT capstone project.
  • Eligibility: Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Information and Communication Technology or an equivalent qualification recognized by NACTVET.

Professional Short Courses (Skill-Based Training)

To serve working professionals, job seekers, business owners, and students seeking specialized practical skills, the department offers focused short courses ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months. Each course awards a Certificate of Completion upon successful practical assessment.

1. Basic Micro Computer Applications

  • Focus: Introductory training on computer operations, Windows OS, typing skills, file management, internet navigation, email communication, and introductory MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

2. Video Production & Editing

  • Focus: Camera techniques, storyboarding, non-linear video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve), audio synchronization, color grading, and rendering content for social media and broadcast.

3. Graphics Designing

  • Focus: Principles of visual design, color theory, typography, and professional software training using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva for creating logo designs, flyers, posters, branding materials, and digital graphics.

4. Data Entry with MS Access, Excel and Tally

  • Focus: Efficient data management, relational database creation in MS Access, advanced data input techniques in MS Excel, and computerized bookkeeping and inventory management using Tally ERP/Prime.

5. Advanced MS Excel for Professionals

  • Focus: Complex formulas, logical functions, nested VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, interactive dashboards, data visualization, conditional formatting, data validation, and basic macro automation for business reporting.

6. PC Hardware, Software Repairing and Maintenance

  • Focus: Computer troubleshooting, component assembly, hardware diagnostics, operating system installation/formatting, driver configuration, malware removal, and preventive hardware maintenance.

7. System Analysis and Database Designing

  • Focus: Software development life cycle (SDLC), user requirements gathering, Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD), SQL database structuring, normalization, and relational database implementation using MySQL or SQL Server.

8. Digital Literacy with Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Focus: Practical introduction to modern AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Midjourney, Claude) for productivity, automated content creation, data analysis prompts, research, and understanding AI ethics in everyday work.

9. Digital Marketing

  • Focus: Social media marketing (Meta Ads, Instagram, LinkedIn), Search Engine Optimization (SEO) basics, email marketing strategies, content planning, brand awareness, and digital ad campaign analytics.
