Wesley College currently has two open vacancies for high level positions at the moment, HOD for Business and Entrepreneurship and HOD for Community Development and Planning. Below are the descriptions for the two vacancies.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR  HEAD OF BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT

 

 

Location: Mwanza, Tanzania

 

Position: Head of Department of Business and Entrepreneurship

 

Job Brief: In addition to regular professor responsibilities, the head of the Department will have additional responsibilities to oversee the curriculum and academic standards of the department, oversee lecturers and professors within the department, and is responsible for the creation and implementation of a department specific strategic plan for the growth and development of the Department within Wesley College.

 

Job Type: Full-time

 

Report to: Reports to Dep. Principal of Academics of Wesley College

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  1. Creating and implementing departmental organizational mission

  2. Leading and evaluating the work of teaching & administrative members of the Department.

  3. Staffing & managing departmental affairs

  4. Chairs departmental meetings

  5. Determines recruitment/manpower needs of the departments according to NACTE

  6. Develops strategies & tactics to attract and retain students & lecturers to the department

  7. Carries out publicity & performance analysis of the department in line with the college’s missions and objectives.

  8. Develops strategic relationships & partners with key industry players

  9. In charge of marketing department courses and budgets & allocation of funds

  10. Takes directives from the College Principal & execute tasks.

  11. Ensure quality curriculum is prepared for use within the department that meets academic standards.

  12. Review and approve lessons plans of all lectures and professors, both full-time and part-time according to the NACTE policy.

  13. Over see the evaluation methods of professors and lecturers within the Department.

  14. Provide and utilize criteria for the selection of full and part time professors as needed.

  15. Provide and utilize criteria for the evaluation of all lecturers and professors, full and part time.

  16. Ensure follow up evaluation of the effectiveness of graduates from the Department, Wesley College.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. College degree in Business Administration or related field.

  2. Three years teaching experience at least at the middle-college level  

  3. Conversant in teaching technology such as word, power point, basic internet searches, and use of projectors or other classroom technology.

 

Preferred:

  1. At least two years administrative experience in an education field.

  2. An academic focus in entrepreneurship and business start-ups.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR  HEAD OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP DEPARTMENT

Location: Mwanza, Tanzania

Position: Head of Department of Community Development and Planning

Job Brief: In addition to regular teaching responsibilities, the head of the Department will have additional responsibilities to oversee the curriculum and academic standards of the department, oversee lecturers within the department, and are responsible for the creation and implementation of a department specific strategic plan for the growth and development of the Department within Wesley College.

Job Type: Full-time

Report to: Reports to Dep. Principal of Academics of Wesley College

  2. Three years teaching experience with NACTE 

  3. Conversant in teaching technology such as word, power point, basic internet searches, and use of projectors or other classroom technology.

  1. At least two years administrative experience in an education field.

  2. An academic focus in organizational and transformational leadership. 

NB: Application letters with CV attached are due by July 30th, 2019.Interviews will be in August. The selected applicants will be expected to start by September 1st, 2019.
